Note:
The installation clamping module has high holding, pull-in and locking forces. This is opened pneumatically (1) and locked mechanically through spring force. To achieve the specified pull-in and locking forces, it must be briefly retensioned pneumatically (turbo) (2). Subsequent uncoupling of the pressure lines is possible at any time (module is clamped pressure-free). The clamping module with blow-out and support control has three connections: 1x pneum. opening (1) / 1x pneum. Retensioning (turbo) (2), 1x pneum. Blow-out and support control (3). (The pneumatic blow-out and support control can optionally be connected.)

Features and Benefits of Our Pneumatic Receiver Modules

The installation clamping module locks mechanically through spring force, so the modules hold the pallet securely after the air line disconnects. This pressure-free clamping state means shops can seat the new pallet, verify placement and disconnect the air line, all while the clamp stays firmly engaged.

Two pneumatic connections handle all module functions. One manages opening, and one serves the optional blow-out and support control circuit. The blow-out function clears chips and debris from the clamping interface before the stud seats, helping protect the locating surfaces and maintain positional accuracy over long production runs. A differential pressure sensor through the blow-out port can confirm workpiece seating before the machining cycle begins. Together, these functions make our units a capable pneumatic quick-change system for facilities that run multiple fixture setups on a single machine.

Our modular pneumatic clamp sizes cover a range of workpiece weights. The KP10.3 delivers up to 25 kN of holding force at 5 to 12 bar, and the KP20.3 scales to 55 kN at 4.5 to 12 bar. Our modules integrate with Vektek’s hydraulic swing clamps, work supports and power units, so fixture designers can source the workholding circuit from one supplier.

Uses for Air Zero Point Clamping

Pneumatic ZP modules suit operations where fixture changes happen frequently and the machining center serves multiple part families.

High-mix job shops: High-mix facilities can reduce setup time at the pallet swap step. Air-powered zero point modules open and close on the existing shop air supply, so facilities can implement zero point clamping on compressed air alone.
Palletized CNC machining: Pneumatic pallet clamps allow operators to swap pallets at the machine on the existing air supply. The spring-lock mechanism retains the pallet throughout the machining cycle.
Inspection and noncutting operations: CMM fixtures and assembly jigs that run on compressed air can use air zero point clamping for consistent part location.

Do I need a pneumatic or hydraulic zero point module?

Choose pneumatic modules when shop air is available and workpiece weights fall within the holding force range. For heavier workpieces or higher force requirements, our Hydraulic ZP Modules may be a stronger fit.

Are pneumatic modules as precise as hydraulic?

Yes, pneumatic modules are as precise as hydraulic. Vektek pneumatic zero point modules hold repeatability to less than 0.005 mm, the same specification as our hydraulic models. The spring-lock mechanism governs positional accuracy, which applies to both actuation types.
