VZP grippers are 3-finger (3-jaw) pneumatic grippers that center round and cylindrical parts automatically as they close, making them a reliable choice for robotic machine tending, part transfer and end of arm tooling. A wedge-hook design and precision ground steel internals inside a hard-anodized aluminum housing deliver high grip force in a compact package.

Ten sizes, from VZP 40 to VZP 300, cover closing grip forces from 255 N to 25,500 N at 6 bar. Choose C1 for longer finger stroke or C2 for a shorter stroke with greater gripping force. Every VZP gripper supports internal or external gripping, runs from 2 to 8 bar, and includes mounting locations for proximity and magnetic switches so part presence can be confirmed in your automation cell. *The gripping force is the arithmetic sum of the individual finger forces at F mm distance at 6 bar.
**Transportable weight calculated with friction coefficient between part and fingers of μ = 0.1 and safety factor fs = 2. Form-fitting fingers may allow larger part weight.
***Closing and opening times are purely the times that the base jaws are in motion. Valve switching, hose filling, PLC/CNC reactions, and other potential delays are not included and must be taken into consideration when determining cycle times.

What's a 3-finger self-centering gripper?

It’s a gripper with three fingers that move toward or away from a common center at the same time, so a round part is centered on the gripper axis every time it’s picked. That makes it well suited to shafts, discs, bar stock and other cylindrical parts.

Can the VZP grip from the inside of a part?

Yes. VZP grippers support external gripping (closing on the outside of a part) and internal gripping (opening against a bore). Opening grip force is listed separately in the specifications table.

What is the difference between VZP and VZO grippers?

VZP grippers are IP40 rated (IP64 with the optional dust protection package) and operate from 2 to 8 bar. VZO grippers are IP67 rated for wet, contaminated environments and operate from 2.5 to 8 bar.
